CALLERS: With direction from the lead coordinators, these volunteers call the Marthas to provide food for a reception.
FOOD PROVIDERS: You will be called to provide sandwiches or wraps, or easy-to-serve desserts sufficient for approximately 10 servings, and to deliver them to the church on the day of the funeral Mass. Food may be made at home or purchased from sandwich shops, grocery stores or bakeries.
SET-UP TEAM: This team should expect to spend about 2 hours each time, setting up the room for the luncheon by decorating the tables, and putting out disposable plates, napkins, and cutlery. All supplies required for this activity are provided in the basement cupboards and kitchen.
SERVICE TEAM: This team should expect to spend about 2 hours making coffee, putting out the food, keeping watch over the guests in case they need something, refreshing bottled water or condiments, or making another pot of coffee.
CLEAN-UP TEAM: This team should expect to spend about 2 hours providing appropriate clean-up of the tables and kitchen area, putting away the unused disposable plates, napkins, and cutlery, and securing remaining food to give to the bereaved family.
The corporal works of Mercy include burying the dead. Being a part of the Martha's is the fulfillment of an act of corporal Mercy and is a beautiful service to fellow parishioners in their time of grief.
Or, find them at the back of the church.
If you are already a Martha we encourage you to still complete an application so that we can be sure to have your current contact information
